The Paliyan community is another tribe found in Kumily panchayat. As they have very little farmland, they do very little agriculture. Their main source of income is from manual labour and from the sale of things they have collected from the forest. Though the Paliyans have a distinctive dialect, the literacy of the community is far below the national standard.
