Chithirapuram is one of the first locations where human inhabitation began in the Munnar region. It was a major hub of activities during the colonial era and later during the setting up of the Pallivasal hydro-electric project, the first of its kind in the State. The place has a lovely old world charm with old bungalows, and cute granite cottages dotting the landscape.

Chithirapuram is one of the major tea growing centres in the Munnar region. Watch the sleepy hills coming alive in the mornings with large numbers of women tea pluckers entering the plantations.

Chithirapuram is about 10 km away from Munnar.
