The Vagamon Glass Bridge stands out as one of the most visually amazing adventure, tourism attractions in Kerala, situated in Kolahalamedu, Vagamon, Idukki district. As a cantilever glass skywalk, it protrudes from a wooded hillside, offering a unique and rare combination of height, transparency, and uninterrupted panorama of the mountains. Instead of merely gazing at the landscape from a lookout point, here the immersion is complete, as you actually walk on a clear glass surface suspended over deep valleys and green hills.
What differentiates this bridge from other glass skywalks is the strong feeling of being 'exposed' it evokes. At a height of around 3, 500, 3, 600 feet above sea level, the bridge faces the Western Ghats, showcasing the layers of the grasslands, the slopes, and the mist filled valleys. The bridge measures 40 meters approximately and is frequently called India's longest cantilever glass bridge. Top, quality laminated glass panels, held by a sturdy steel structure and tension cables, provide not only the structural safety but also the total visual transparency that is so thrilling to the visitors. Almost everyone uses a few moments of hesitation before taking the first step but the wonder of the landscape soon wipes away that doubt and the visitors' hearts start singing the beauty of nature.
