Standing at 2,100 meters (6,890 feet), Chembra Peak is the highest point in Wayanad district, Kerala, and is one of the most iconic trekking destinations in the Western Ghats. This is a marked trail, and it's advisable to start the trek early in the morning to avoid mid-morning heat.
Make sure that you carry water and healthy snacks. However, since this is an eco-tourism spot, avoid plastics and do not litter.
Chembra Peak is located near Vythiri and Meppadi villages in Wayanad district, Kerala. The nearest major town is Kalpetta, approximately 20 km away, which serves as a convenient base for trekkers. From Kalpetta, visitors can reach the trailhead by road via private vehicles, taxis, or local buses. The trek is well-marked, and local guides are available for hire to enhance the trekking experience and ensure safety.
Under ideal conditions, this trek will last 3 to 4 hours.
This is a Moderate trek. Do ensure that you wear comfortable shoes for this trek.
The trekking season begins in October and continues to March every year. Monsoon treks are organised by certain service providers, subject to weather conditions.
