Located 30kms north-east of Kanhangad, it is an extension of Ranipuram Wildlife Sanctuary. A veritable trekker's paradise with numerous trails, the picturesque picnic centre at Kottancheri Hills is also a favourite of all its visitors. The proximity of the Talakaveri in the Brahmagiri mountain range of Kodaku adds to the quiet charm of this place. The forest of Kottancherry merges with the reserved forests of Kasaragod and is teeming with myriad wildlife species. Wild elephants, wild dogs, deer, wild pigs, rare birds, butterflies can all be spotted here.
