Kerala Witnesses 125% spike in tourist arrivals on e-Visa

A staggering 125 per cent growth in tourist arrivals to Kerala on e-Visa has been witnessed in 2016 when compared to previous year. As many as 25,395 tourist arrivals from 71 countries were registered in the year 2015 while the numbers soared to 57,140 arrivals from 125 countries in 2016. Majority of the visitors were from the United Kingdom which registered around 26.92 per cent arrivals and was followed by USA, Germany, France, Australia, and UAE. The highest percentage of tourist arrivals on e-Visa was during December with 18.54 per cent and lowest was in June with 2.99 per cent. The data is based on analysing the e-Visa arrivals in two of the major airports in Kerala, the Cochin International Airport and the Trivandrum International Airport, in 2015 and 2016.
