Sree Rama Swami Temple, Thiruvangad

The Sree Rama Swami Temple, about 23 kilometres from Kannur, is dedicated to Lord Rama. Legend has it that Sage Parasurama, who is said to have reclaimed Kerala from the Arabian Sea, created the temple. The temple is a connoisseur’s delight with sculptures and intricate carvings in wood.  The carvings which are believed to be 400 years old depict gods, goddesses, animals or scenes from epics like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
