Places of Worship and Places of Importance

The Vasudevapuram Temple here is known for its mural paintings whereas it is for its rituals and performances like theeyattu, garudan parava and thookam that the Karikulangara Bhagavatheeswaram temple is famed.

The Eeraveeswaram Mahadeva temple is another famous temple in the locality. There are remnants of a fort near the temple. The raised platform and the gaps on the walls stand testimony to the fact that the cannons were once fired from this fort.

The Kudamaloor St. Mary’s Church is seen as a symbol of religious amity. It was built by the Chembakassery king in AD 1125. The architecture of the church combines Indian and Western elements.

The Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom the church is dedicated, is popularly known as Muthiamma here. St. Alphonsa, the nation’s first woman saint was baptized in this church. One of the offerings here is the traditional water bag and rope, used to draw well water.
