The winners of Kerala Tourism’s international online painting competition for children, to commemorate child prodigy Edmund Thomas Clint, had an incredible five-night family trip from Kochi to Trivandrum from September 27 to 30, 2019.

It was indeed days of fun, love and laughter, as the children and their families soaked themselves in the verdant green landscapes of Kerala. At the end of the trip, what started off as a group of utter strangers from diverse parts of the world had gelled into a happy family.

The winners and special invitees went to tourist attractions in Fort Kochi, Munroe Island, and Alappuzha. They also got a chance to experience the cultural vibrance of Kerala by watching Pulikali (recreational folk art form) Seethakali (a centuries-old dance drama), Kalaripayattu (martial artform), Kathakali (classical dance-drama) performances. The subtle expressions and vibrant make-up of Kerala art forms caught the fancy of the young and the old alike.

Of the 38,995 paintings received this year from the 4-16 age group from 96 countries, 6,542 were from abroad. Among the rest from India, 5,663 paintings were from Kerala.

There were 110 winners in the competition, and among them, 15 were eligible for the tour package with family. Ten of the 15 were from foreign countries. Winners from Zimbabwe, Russia, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh could make the trip and enjoy themselves thoroughly.

On 30 September, Mr Kadakampally Surendren, Minister for Tourism distributed the prizes to the winners at an event held in Thiruvananthapuram.

The first prize went to Parth Joshi of Vadodara in Gujarat, while Nafisa Tabassum Authay of Bangladesh won the second prize and Aaradhya, a six-year-old Malayalee girl collected the third prize.

The Indian trip winners among the participants were Aarohan Dutta (Maharashtra), Dhruv Anand Shastry (Hyderabad), Goutam Kumar (Punjab), Leena Prakash Kadam (Maharashtra), Parth Joshi (Gujarat). The promoters, who qualified for the trip, were Somnath Kashinath Kothale (Maharashtra), Pratiksha Pandey (Madhya Pradesh), Poonam Thakkar (Karnataka), Sweta Purvesh Mehta (Maharashtra) and Ajay Dattaram Chavan (Maharashtra).

The winners, who qualified for the trip from abroad were Abdullah Hassan Sial (Zimbabwe), Anastasiia Semenova (Russia), Anjelika Petrova Yonovska (Bulgaria), Ranawaka Arachchige Esheli Neskya Ranawaka (Sri Lanka), Sinali Ruwanya Thushmini Peiris Heraliyawalage (Sri Lanka), Ishmam Ahmed (Bangladesh), Sesali Chanudima Kariyavasam (Sri Lanka), NafisaTabassum Authay (Bangladesh), Petya Dobromirova Dimitrova (Bulgaria), and Thanumi Sanulya De Silva (Sri Lanka).

The promoters of the competition who qualified for the trip were Roohina Khanam Jilani (Zimbabwe), Anju Man Ara Begum (Bangladesh), Anna Rozenkova (Russia), and Dimka Ivanova Pencheva (Bulgaria). Any person above the age of 18 who registers him/herself as a Promoter of this competition on a voluntary basis comes under this category.

The tiny tots and teenagers left Kerala with their heads held high, and hearts full of happiness with memories to cherish forever!
