In the temple idol, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathy are manifested together. The festival here is Meenabharani which falls in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March/April). Several art and cultural programmes like the Ottan Thullal and the Kurathiyattam are held in connection with the festival.
Thudi Thullal is another ritual held during the festival. It is related to mythical story of Khandakarna, one of the guards of Lord Shiva who is believed to be responsible for the spread of small pox.
In thudi thullal, a man, dressed in pieces of wood, rice powder, honey, jaggery, raisins and leaves of the areca nut palm, dance in front of the devotees.
