The house where the Baker family lived for four generations, along with 100 acres of land in Kumarakom, was sold to the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) in 1982. Later, it was leased out to the Taj Group that converted the bungalow into the first modern tourist resort in Kumarakom - the Taj Garden Retreat. Though renovated, the building still retains a rustic beauty and stands as a beautiful monument to the Baker family’s contributions to a land they created and developed.
