The symposia will address a number of issues related to tourism and livelihood such as;

• Impact on local employment
• Capacity building and progression
• Scope of providing local employment
• Contributions of tourism to the local economy
• Discernible impact on poverty reduction

A report will be published incorporating key findings and the papers and reports presented at the symposium. The ICRT with ICRT Brazil is organising the RTD6, the 6th International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations as a side event, immediately before the Rio +20 Summit and the findings of the Symposium will be shared with a larger audience in the Conference. Also, a seminar is planned at World Travel Market in November 2011 and there will be a book on Tourism and Livelihoods published along with a brief policy review document in time for the Rio+20 Conference for which the valuable inputs are expected to be produced by this Symposium
